Away in the manger
What do you see?
The little Lord Jesus
Who came for you and me
No crib for a bed
He came to the poor and lowly
Laid down His sweet head
He set aside His majesty, emptied himself
Taking on the appearance of a man
Look at His life again
Walk down the path of the ordinary everyday life
He was a baby who soon became a boy and then a man
Look and see again
Don’t miss the wonder of it all
Jesus’ life was full of ordinary things
But it was also full of miraculous jaw-dropping events
And the cross was always the ultimate point
He came for you and me
It isn’t the fairy lights or turkey
Or even the grand Christmas tree with presents”
It is this new life that was birthed
To a virgin through the Holy Spirit
Who is true life, hope, and peace
If you’ve missed the main message
Look again! Listen again!
Hear the glorious proclamation of the angels that very night:
A Saviour has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord
Think of Jesus’ name again: Immanuel, God with us
He came to stay and walk with His people
Immanuel, God with us
And the cross was always the ultimate point
He came for you and me
This Season
This Christmas, know that God is with you through the joy, the pain, and the mundane.
Jesus came to bring life, to reconcile us with God. May these song lyrics by Avalon speak to our hearts about this amazing God who gave His all for us. And let us think about how we can give of ourselves to God and to others this season.
This Christmas, know that God is with you through the joy, the pain, and the mundane.
As little children
We would dream of Christmas morn
Of all the gifts and toys
we knew we’d find
But we never realised
a baby born one blessed night
Gave us the greatest gift of our lives
We were the reason
That He gave His life
We were the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live
As the years went by
We learned more about gifts
The giving of ourselves
And what that means
On a dark and cloudy day
A man hung crying in the rain
All because of love, all because of love
We were the reason
That He gave His life
We were the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live
I’ve finally found the reason for living
It’s in giving every part of my heart to Him
In all that I do every word that I say
I’ll be giving my all just for Him, for Him…
We were the reason
That He gave His life
We are the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live …
He is my reason to live
Reflect and Pray:
1. God has chosen to be with you in yout every day, ordinary life.
How does this truth impact your life?
2. What new wonders do you see in the Christmas story this season?
3. You are the reason that Jesus came.
What does that mean for you in this season?
